Feeding, Speech, & Language Evaluations
Our evaluation process is play-based and designed to make your child feel comfortable and engaged. We will get down on the floor, play alongside them, and build trust while observing their communication or feeding skills. Throughout the session, we will also ask you questions about your child's development in order to understand their strengths and needs.
Once the evaluation is complete, we will share our findings and provide you with practical strategies that you can start using at home right away. Our goal is to support both you and your child from the very first session!
Our Approach to Therapy
At Balanced Beginnings, our therapy approach is play-based, child-led, and family-focused. Our sessions allow children to explore, move, and learn alongside their family members— encouraging connection and helping skills transfer into daily life.
We believe in working side by side with parents and caregivers. Our goal is to provide education, strategies, and support to help you navigate your child’s feeding and communication development with confidence.
Families are encouraged to ask questions, share progress, and stay involved every step of the way. Together, we will give your child the skills they need to thrive in their early years!
Our Specialty Services
Feeding Therapy for Babies & Toddlers
The focus of feeding therapy is to make mealtimes positive and stress-free for the whole family. Our sessions make learning feel natural and comfortable— incorporating the foods, people, and equipment that you already have at home! Depending on your goals, we may work together to help your child:
Use all their senses to explore new foods, tastes, and textures
Build oral coordination and strength to reduce gagging and choking
Gain strategies for safe and effective swallowing
Gaining your child’s trust is our priority, so we may not begin with food right away. We will build rapport for as long as we need to by playing on the floor or engaging in movement activities together.
Speech Therapy for Late Talkers
Our speech therapy sessions feel like play! We focus on teaching foundational language skills while engaging with toys and activities in your normal, daily life. Whether your child uses spoken language or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods, we will work together to help them:
Express their needs clearly to reduce frustration and behaviors
Pay attention, follow directions, and transition easily
Confidently socialize and interact with other children
We empower parents and caregivers to incorporate communication strategies into everyday routines— so supporting your child’s language development won’t feel like doing anything “extra!”
Group Programs for Parents & Children
Are you looking for a place where you and your child can learn and develop in a supportive community setting?
Feeding Enrichment Groups
Our feeding groups provide a supportive, no-pressure environment for children and their caregivers to navigate mealtime challenges together. In a small group setting, your family can connect with others experiencing stressful mealtimes and receive expert guidance from an experienced feeding therapist. Through playful, sensory-based activities, your child will:
Explore new foods in a natural social setting
Sit and attend to meals at the table
Eat safely and reduce the risk of choking
Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, try out therapeutic strategies, and gain confidence in guiding their child’s eating journey.
Language Enrichment Groups
Our language groups are full of learning through music, sensory activities, and active play! We will encourage new communication and social skills as your child plays alongside their peers in a small group setting. Your child will have a blast as they:
Socialize and connect with other children
Attend to activities in a small group setting
Build foundational language skills
Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, try out supportive language strategies, and gain confidence to support their child’s communication journey.
